Jasper wedding: Robin & Nicholas

Robin and Nicholas met on a pub crawl 8 1/2 years ago, and soon discovered they couldn’t bear to be apart. Robin’s dad tells me that he didn’t predict her having a lavish wedding with all the trappings, but when wedding fever hits what girl doesn’t want a pretty awesome wedding? The feathers theme runs throughout the day, and if you look closely you’ll see feathers in her dress. The Beatles feature throughout the reception with music, quizzes and photos. The result was a perfect blend of the bride and groom’s personalities, beauty, fun and laughter. Not to mention a stunning yet tranquil ceremony location lakeside in Jasper. The bride had one surprise for her wedding guests up her sleeve, I won’t give it away here, you will see in the photos that Robin knows how to make an entrance!

What did you think when you first laid eyes on your partner?

Robin: When I first laid eyes on him, I thought he was unassuming, but he quickly won me over.
Nick: I said to myself I’m gonna hang out with that girl.

When did you know he/she was the one?

Robin: When we spent some time apart, I couldn’t live without him. I knew I needed him in my life always
Nick: Always

Tell us about the proposal.

Robin: He led me to a secluded mountain stream and got down on one knee. He also snuck some champagne in his backpack…
Nick: It was a beautiful romantic walk on a jasper river

What was the inspiration or reasoning for your wedding style/theme?

Robin: I am a zoologist and animals have always been a large and important part of my life, especially birds. Because having a theme of birds would be very predictable I chose feathers as part of the theme for the wedding because they symbolize my connection to birds as well as lending themselves well to a romantic event and are easy to incorporate. The band “the Beatles” was also a theme in the wedding because my husband loves them and started my love for the band. They also have some of the best love songs ever written!

Favourite moment on your wedding day?

Robin: My entrance to the ceremony on a horse drawn carriage. I loved seeing the horse, and the carriage ride down to the ceremony with both my parents who we’re giving me away. Everyone flipped when they saw my entrance, I had kept it a secret and it was an amazing element in the wedding.
Nick: The ceremony was beautiful, I really enjoyed all of it.
